We’ve shown what we always knew - that we would host the best ever Women’s World Cup. "It's only natural that at some time in the future we would host a men's World Cup. Football Australia boss James Johnson has repeatedly said Australia would like to host the men's World Cup but will need stadiums that meet FIFA requirements. "From our experiences with FIFA in this World Cup, they are willing to work with you and be flexible." The next men's World Cup in 2026 will be hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico.

AUCKLAND, July 23 (Reuters) - The New Zealand team were in good spirits after a fire at their hotel forced them to evacuate briefly on Saturday night at the Women's World Cup, New Zealand Football CEO Andrew Pragnell said. New Zealand police apprehended a suspect in connection with the fire and the individual was facing arson and burglary charges, he said. Trained well today in the sunshine, which was welcome as well, and are looking in good shape," Pragnell told reporters on Sunday. "Another curveball in the last three days," he added, in an apparent reference to a shooting in which three people were killed near the Norway team hotel in Auckland hours ahead of the tournament kick-off match on Thursday. "If you put on a show like that and I think the World Cup coming to New Zealand, I think it's kind of just thrown football into people's faces," said defender C.J.

The New Zealand team said it refused to continue because defender Michael Boxall was racially abused by a Qatar player and no action was taken. “Michael Boxall was racially abused during the first half of the game by a Qatari player,” New Zealand Football said in a statement on social media shortly after the abandonment. In a statement on its website, New Zealand football said the alleged racial slur against Boxall, who is of Samoan heritage, was heard by several players. CNN has also contacted the Qatar Football Association for additional comment. But the staff of New Zealand also, they supported the statement of the New Zealand player; we support our player.

NZ women swap white shorts for blue over period anxieties
  + stars: | 2023-04-04 | by ( ) www.reuters.com   time to read: +1 min
April 4 (Reuters) - The New Zealand women's soccer team will swap their home kit's white shorts for teal blue to ease players' period anxieties, the country's football association (NZF) said on Monday. "The absence of white shorts now is fantastic for women with any kind of period anxiety," New Zealand striker Hannah Wilkinson said. In the end it just helps us focus more on performance and shows a recognition and appreciation of women's health." NZF's decision follows similar moves by the England women's team, clubs including Manchester City and the Ireland women's rugby team. "As an organisation, New Zealand Football wholeheartedly supports the shift away from white shorts for our women's international players," chief executive Andrew Pragnell said.
